Eastern harps GAA club are once again delighted to launch the Kerry McKeon essay writing competition 2022, for the youngsters in the Eastern Harps area. We ran the competition through the club’s underage teams and thankfully the kids of the area did not disappoint showing some great creativity in difficult times with many great entries received. Due to the success of the competition and growing participation over the past couple of years the format will remain the same for this year’s competition. There will be a winner from each of the 4 following categories, U-6 U-8 U-10 and U-12, with an overall winner selected from one if the aforementioned categories. It is a great opportunity for the boys and girls living within the Eastern Harps club to explore their creative side and have a bit of fun in doing so.

The following is a breakdown of the Kerry McKeon Literary Competition winners 2021,

-       U-12, Katelin Donavon

-       U-10, Matthew Lyons  

-       U-8, Dylan Cryan

-       U-6, Saoirse Scott

The overall winner for 2021 was Dylan Cryan

The competition is going from strength to strength each year and we are looking forward to increasing this further in 2022.

Competition details are as follows:

Essay title; My Hero (total word count 400 words max.)

Essay can be typed or written on any type of paper, copybook or A4 sheets

Closing date is Sunday the 27th of August. Please ensure that essays are submitted on or before that date. Please add your name and age group with your entry. Your essay can be submitted to your coach at football training, or a copy of your entry can be emailed to mikeyog7@yahoo.com.

Winners will be announced and presented with the winning trophies and prizes on Saturday morning the 3rd of September 2022.

The essays will be independently judged by an external examiner.
