U16 boys win in Ransboro - 25/05/2016

<< Go Back

Our under 16 boys continued their good form with an away win against Coolera/Strandhill on Monday evening last.  The conditions were ideal and with a gentle breeze in our favour in the first half, some fine scores were taken and we lead at the break by 1-08 to 0-03.

In the second half the Harps lads carried the ball more often into the breeze and they demonstrated some excellent passing movements and support play which resulted in six further points and two well taken goals.  We didn’t have it all our own way though in the second half and the home side also played well, scoring 2-03 of their own.

At the final whistle the scoreline read Coolera/Strandhill 2-06 v 3-14 Eastern Harps.  There is a break from competitive action now for those lads doing the Junior Certificate and we wish them, and indeed all involved in State Examinations in the club over the next few weeks, the very best of luck.

A welcome addition to the fixtures calendar this year is a 7-a-side competition for non-exam students and the East Divisional blitz takes place in Connolly Park, Collooney on Friday, 3rd June.  The top two teams from each division will progress to a finals evening in Scarden on Friday 17th June.  Credit to Coiste na nÓg for getting this competition fitted into an already crowded fixtures calendar.
